Avengers: Infinity War Directors to Bring Videogame to TV Life

The Russo brothers may be well-known for their talents in balancing an ensemble cast within a reasonably timed movie—something everyone is also expecting to see in next year's Avengers: Infinity War. But the duo directors may be looking at a new challenge by adapting a horror videogame to TV.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project will be Little Nightmares, a horror title that basically follows a little girl named Six as she tries to get to the top of the terrifying Maw ship. Her progress will be impeded by other characters, including the Janitor, the Twin Chefs, and the Lady.

The Russo brothers will be both developing and executive producing the TV series, alongside Dmitri M. Johnson and Stephan Bugaj of DJ2 Entertainment. Dan Jevons will also be onboard as producer and Samuel Gatte will be there as executive producer for Bandai Namco.

Nightmare Before Christmas director Henry Selick will also be onboard to direct the pilot episode--not bad for upping our expectations even more.

More than the challenge of expanding the game's premise (which is pretty thin but creatively expanded, with enough material), it's hard to ignore that this project will essentially be adapting a videogame to TV. While it may not be in the same vein as Assassin's Creed that was meant for the big screen, there's the same challenge of transforming the sometimes non-linear approach to a more understandable narrative onscreen.

It's also a different challenge, considering how Anthony and Joe Russo are best known for their efforts and success with ensemble cast movies. We'll have to see where they take this, and I'm keeping an open mind about how they'll approach the project.

The Little Nightmares TV series doesn't have a concrete release date as of yet.
