Avengers 4 Director Confirms Filming Will Begin in 2 Weeks

At this past weekend's San Diego Comic-Con, co-director Joe Russo has confirmed that Avengers 4 will start filming in 2 weeks. The fourth Avengers film was originally titled Avengers: Infinity War - Part 2, and it was set to be filmed simultaneously with the third installment without breaks for a whole year, but now it's currently untitled, and its official title hasn't been revealed because it was said to spoil Infinity War.

Now, the Russo Brothers have said that the next two Avengers titles will be different films, but the production schedule for the two films has been more shrouded in mystery, with principal photography on Avengers: Infinity War ended just a little over a week ago, leading some fans to wonder what Marvel and the Russos' plan is for filming the fourth Avengers film.

During a recent interview with Comicbook.com, however, Joe Russo said that the production schedule for the two Avengers titles is similar to what many had originally expected. Avengers 4 will start filming in two weeks, leaving just less than a month break between the filming schedules for the two films.

"It's crazy man, we just wrapped the first movie a week ago and I start shooting the second one in two weeks. It's a crazy schedule."

Russo also discussed how how much he and his brother, Anthony Russo, worked with screenwriters Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus to make sure the next two Avengers films will feel as different from each other as possible:

For over a year, many have already been aware that Marvel is embarking on a production schedule for these two films similar to the scale of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Russo's confirmation for the Avengers 4 schedule reinforces that fact.

Avengers: Infinity War is set to release in theaterson May 4, 2018, and its yet-untitled sequel on May 3, 2019.
