The cast of James Cameron's Avatar sequel is continuously expanding. After quite a number of years that fans were mostly kept in the dark about developments, we've been hearing new additions to the cast for the sequel.
Game of Thrones' Oona Chaplin is the latest name linked to the franchise, The Wrap reported. This addition came from 20th Century Fox's announcement, though it didn't come with any other details for the movie.
The only thing that the report was able to shed light on regarding her role is that Chaplin's character will be named Varang. Her character will be a strong and central one. She will also be part of the franchise for a while since Varang is supposedly part of the entire saga of the Avatar sequels.
Fans may be familiar with Chaplin not only as the granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin. She's also part of the reason why Game of Thrones' Red Wedding happened. She played the role of Talisa, Robb Stark's wife who was then-pregnant with their child. Given how Robb was supposed to be married to one of Frey's daughters, her role as the wife didn't sit well, and resulted in one of the shocking events on TV to date.
For now, Chaplin has herself included in one of the sizable projects, as Avatar has four planned sequels, already dated and some in production. The Avatar sequels will be released during the holiday seasons of 2020, 2021, 2024, and 2025.
