Despite the fact that Paramount has already canceled the sequels to Terminator: Genisys, it looks like action film icon Arnold Schwarzenegger is still pretty much interested in returning to the big screen as the legendary Terminator.
Schwarzenegger has been part of the Terminator franchise for a long, long time, and so it came as a big surprise for fans when they heard reports last week that Paramount was no longer interested in doing the franchise because Schwarzenegger was no longer interested in doing the role.
Now the Hollywood star laughs at the rumor in a new interview with Fandango saying that he'd definitely want to reprise the role of Terminator.
"I don't want to call it, like, fake news, like the president calls it, but I think people just write things – I have no idea why. Just because Paramount doesn't want to pick up the Terminator franchise, you have 15 other studios willing to do it – that doesn't mean the Terminator franchise is finished, right? It just means they are on their way to negotiate with another studio, but I can't give you the details of that. They'll announce that. But, yes, the Terminator franchise is never finished. And remember that after 2018, James Cameron is getting it back, and then it will continue on!"
Though James Cameron won't be returning to direct another Terminator film being busy developing the Avatar sequels, Schwarzenegger also bets that Cameron's involvement in the franchise would help bring promise to the Terminator Genisys sequel.
"Cameron will be producing it, and there will be another director on it. I'm always looking forward to doing another Terminator, especially if the story is written well and it's really entertains the whole world."
Having Schwarzennegger return to the big screen as Terminator would certainly help the sequel, however it would be even better if the film had a good story to come along with it. If the sequel takes off, then there could be more films for Schwarzenneger to play in. Let's wait and see.
