Are The [SPOILERS] Dead In Avengers: Infinity War?

The wait is over. Marvel has released the first trailer for Avengers: Infinity War and there is a lot to talk about. In only two minutes we see an unarmored Thanos with two of the Infinity Stones, the return of Iron Man's Hulkbuster armor, Spider-Man getting his Spider-Sense and so much more. However, one detail that could easily be ignored are the dead people Loki walks over before picking up the Tesseract.

Marvel might have just killed all of the Asgardians.

It's only there for a second - 1:04 in the trailer for those curious - but it looks like Loki is walking over the corpses of all the Asgardians that evacuated at the end of Thor: Ragnarok. The clothes the diseased are wearing don't look like any civilians from Earth. With Bruce Banner found on Earth by Doctor Strange and Thor winding up with the Guardians of the Galaxy, it's safe to assume that the ship filled with Asgardians was a victim of a Thanos attack.

One has to feel for Thor here, who has gone through a really rough week if this attack takes place right after they evacuated Asgard. We knew Thor and Thanos would be meeting, thanks to the first post-credit scene of Ragnarok, and this essentially confirms that Loki did indeed take the Tesseract with him before summoning Surtur. Granted, that was obvious, but it's nice getting official confirmation amidst the death and despair we saw in the trailer.

Avengers: Infinity War is slated for a May 4, 2018, release. The unnamed Avengers 4 comes out next year on May 3, 2019.
