Aquaman May Have Cast Black Manta’s Father

It looks like James Wan's Aquaman is almost like a family affair—if only because the cast comprises of family members of the lead, and now even the villain!

Michael Beach, best known for his work in TV guest starring roles in Criminal Minds, Law & Order, and Grey's Anatomy, has teased that he may actually be part of the Aquaman cast.

In a surprising and almost random tweet response to a fan query of whether or not he will be playing Black Manta's father, his response is a teasing one:

The question was far from random, seeing as how Beach had been previously pictured together with Yahya Abdul-Mateen, who's already signed up to play the villainous role. They were both pictured in Australia, where Aquaman is currently filming, so it doesn't really need to put two together to get at a hypothesis.

Having Black Manta's father in the cast isn't surprising either. Comics-wise, Black Manta's father actually plays quite the role in the encounter between his son and Aquaman. Since the actual storyline of Aquaman has yet to be released, fans weren't sure until then if there was a chance that this character would be adapted to the big screen.

The gathering of the fathers of both the hero and the villain in the cast so far may hint that the Wan may follow the revenge stories of both sides. We'll have to wait and see, but this may be a great way to expand the DCEU beyond Justice League.

Aquaman will be out in theaters in 2018.
