Aquaman: First Look at the Atlantean Seahorse/Sea Dragon

Aquaman rode a ridiculous looking ‘seahorse' in the Super Friends cartoon, but it looks like the Aquaman film coming out later this year will have a introduce us to a more formidable looking water mount.

Check this out:

Apparently, these creatures are supposed to come from the Xebel Kingdom (lead by Dolph Lundgren's King Nerues). Producer Peter Safran had this to say about the Sea Dragons (via Entertainment Weekly):

"The idea was to turn on its head the idea of Aquaman riding a seahorse, take something for which he was mocked and turn it into something terrifying and impressive… He's a Xebellian creature but I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Arthur (Jason Momoa) on one at some point…"

Though Aquaman has been poked fun of for years, Zack Snyder's version has truly tried to revamp the character as a true badass. What's cool is, even if Jason Momoa definitely looks threatening, he still manages to give his version of the character a charismatic vibe. Hopefully we get to see more of it in the trailer which has been promised for SDCC 2018.

Aquaman finds himself caught between a surface world that ravages the sea and the underwater Atlanteans who are ready to revolt.

Catch Aquaman in theaters Dec. 21.
