Aquaman: First Look at Shazam!’s Djimoun Hounsou as the Fisherman King

It was announced recently that Djimon Hounsou would be taking over the role of the Wizard in Shazam!, but now it's been revealed that he actually has another DCEU role. Get your first look at the Fisherman King and his people:

Here's an official description of this scene via Entertainment Weekly:

In this scene, King Orm (Patrick Wilson, not shown) has gone to the Fisherman King (played by Djimon Hounsou, that guy with the trident — and more on that in a minute) to enlist his help to declare war on the ocean-polluting surface world. There's also the Fisherman Queen (Natalia Safran) and Princess (Sophia Forrest) on the left, and a royal guard on the right. Though you can't tell in this shot, all of them have tails instead of legs.

Interestingly enough, Natalia Safran, who plays the Fisherman Queen, also has a role in Shazam! as the wife of the villain Dr. Sivana (Mark Strong). Interesting how DC can ‘recycle' actors by having them play characters with and without prosthetics.

More on the Fisherman People from Producer Peter Safran:

"After the fall of Atlantis, some of the kingdoms evolved and some devolved… This is one that evolved. This is a kingdom that's primarily artistic and cerebral, with poets and philosophers."

It's intriguing just how large the world of Aquaman is going to be. Marvel has admittedly taken over realms of magic and space, but we have yet to get a comic book movie to bring us to an underwater world.

Hopefully Aquaman lives up to the hype. Catch it in cinemas Dec. 20.
