Aquaman Adds Another Cast Member

DC Comics' next standalone movie is going full-steam ahead after seeing the success of Wonder Woman.

Aquaman has added another cast member to its family; Michael Beach is joining the cast, Deadline reported. The announcement is pretty much just an official confirmation, as he has already been rumored previously to have a role in the Warner Bros film.

The announcement also came with a role, however, and it's different from what fans have been speculating about. According to the studio, Beach will play the role of Jesse Kane, who will be part of the high-seas hijackers who will face-off against Aquaman at some point.

Before this announcement, Beach was thought to join the cast as Black Manta's father. This villain is supposed to be portrayed by Abdul-Mateen II. The actor had teased before a photo of him and beach together in Australia, where which is also the location of the production of Aquaman.

Despite the different and exciting implications that this would have entailed in terms of the story for Aquaman, the announcement pretty much makes this an official role casting for Beach.

In any case, Beach will be joining Jason Momoa who plays the titular role, Amber Head as his Queen Mera, Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Ludi Lin, Temuera Morrison, and Abdul-Mateen II. James Wan is on the director's chair, and the film is headed to theaters sometime during the holiday season of 2018.
