Antonio Banderas Joins Tom Holland in Sony’s Uncharted

Sony's Uncharted has been in development hell for a while, but it looks like things are getting back in track. Just in, the movie has just added one more big-name to the cast.

According to Variety, Antonio Banderas has been cast in Sony's upcoming Uncharted adaptation. We have no details as to who Banderas is playing in the movie, but I can imagine that he's going to be the main villain. Besides Banderas, new additions to the cast also include Sophia Ali and Tati Gabrielle.

So far, the main member of the cast that has been attached for a while is Spider-Man's Tom Holland, who will be playing a younger version of Nathan Drake. Holland will be joined by Mark Wahlberg who is playing the role of Drake's mentor Sully.

Seeing that video games usually don't end up as great films, I don't really have my hopes up too high when it comes to Uncharted. But with Sony planning an entire division to work on movies with PlayStation Productions, you can bet that the pressure is on for Uncharted to deliver something more memorable.

If this kicks off, we could be looking at more movie adaptations for games like God of War and The Last of Us. What are the odds we'll get an animated Jak & Daxter film? With Sonic the Hedgehog making a splash in theaters, I'm sure Sony wants to know how a Crash Bandicoot movie would fare.

Sony's Uncharted movie is expected to hit theaters March 5, 2021.
