It’s known that Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano had a history, so it’s quite intriguing to learn in Shroud of Darkness that the female padawan and his trainer caught a glimpse of each other at a time when Anakin was about to turn to the Dark Side in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.
It begs the question though of what the two were up to at the time and why Ahsoka came back at all?
StarWars.com asked Matt Lanter (voice of Anakin) and Ashley Eckstein (voice of Ahsoka) if they knew about that moment.
Not really much at all! [Showrunner] Dave [Filoni] likes to keep things tight. But Dave is so aware of things. If we needed a piece of that for this performance, he would fill us in.
As for Filoni, the showrunner just wants to make sure that the characters remain honest and that the existence of events between The Clone Wars’ last season and the Rebels’ first season aren’t solely for the characters.
I've tried to give as many clues as I can as to what did happen after Ahsoka left the Jedi Order. For now, I have to treat the characters with the experience that I know they had. So Ahsoka can't lie and say 'The last time I saw Anakin I walked away from him at the Jedi Temple.' No, no, no! Because she has seen him since then. She was involved in a very important mission at the end of the Clone Wars. We've gotten to tell a very critical piece of her story, one that I wasn't sure we'd get to tell after The Clone Wars stopped.
It’s always exciting to learn more about these shows and the teasers just keep fans at the edge of their seats even more. Knowing that Ahsoka and Darth Vader will be meeting again soon, it’s interesting to see how Ahsoka will handle it.
