American Gods' Mad Sweeney Wants To Play Wolverine

Hugh Jackman famously played Wolverine/Logan for 17 years before he ended his run last February. Fox is currently mulling over whether they should reboot the character or not, and someone has already put up their name for consideration.

American Gods' Pablo Schreiber (Mad Sweeney) apparently wants to take on the role, probably influenced by the fact that his brother Liev Schreiber was the last person to play Logan's half-brother Sabertooth in X-men Origins: Wolverine.

In an interview with ComicBook, he admits:

"I was a huge fan growing up of Wolverine and of Daredevil. Those are my two favorite guys and I would jump at the chance to play either one of them in a second. And you know I think Hugh is done now with Wolverine, so maybe it's time for a reboot Maybe it's time for a new Wolverine."

When it came to the fact about his brother playing Sabertooth, Schreiber also says:

"Maybe we can reboot Sabertooth. I don't think [Liev] would agree to play Sabretooth to my Wolverine."

Mad Sweeney is actually one of the funnier characters in American Gods, and Schreiber is pretty good with bringing the character to life, counting that Sweeney had a minimal role in the books.

Personally though, if Fox was going to reboot the character, I'd want Wolverine to be closer to his comic counterpart. For one, I think Jackman's portrayal was actually pretty tame compared to how gruff Logan was in the comics. Wolverine is also constantly busted for being very short, so that could be nice to finally see Wolverine as the small angry Canadian animal-man that he is.

That's just my opinion anyway.
