Amazon has some pretty great originals under their belt from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel to The Boys, but now they're looking to team-up with Westworld showrunners Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan for a series adaptation of one of the most popular games to date.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon has commissioned Joy and Nolan to work on Fallout series. We don't have that much details on the show yet, but it's said the show has a ‘series commitment penalty attached' in a sense that if Amazon likes the script, the show can skip the pilot phase and go straight to production.

It's very interesting how a lot of video game titles are getting the series treatment lately. After Netflix's success with The Witcher, HBO has gone on to announce a Last of Us series in the works. With Amazon landing Fallout, I'm curious what Triple A video game franchise Apple TV or Hulu would want to jump on.
As for Fallout, the franchise had started back in 1997 and imagines a dystopian future where the world had undergone the nuclear apocalypse in the 40s and the survivors roam the wasteland fighting mutants and other factions. It's a very rich world with a lot of potential, and I'm very eager to see what Nolan and Joy could come up with.
We don't know when the series is set to come out, but seeing as development is still in early stages, I would guess that they're aiming for a 2023 premiere.
