Despite directing a number of Alien movies, including this year's Alien: Covenant, it looks like acclaimed director Ridley Scott is tired of the Xenomorph. Debuting in the first Alien film, the murderous creature soon became an iconic horror monster and is probably one of the reasons why fans tuned in to see Alien: Covenant. However, it looks like Scott wants to put the creature to rest since he feels the
Scott told The Hollywood Reporter that the iconic creature has basically run its course. That's not to say he isn't interested in the future of Alien because he is. Apparently, Scott wants the next few films to focus on Michael Fassbender's David character, which wouldn't be a terrible decision, to be honest.
Both Prometheus and Alien: Covenant received mixed reviews from fans and critics alike. However, there has been praise for Fassbender's performance as the David character. The X-Men star was really good in both movies, so putting the spotlight on him for future sequels shouldn't be a bad thing. At the least, Scott won't have to worry about finding new ways to make the Xenomorph more interesting.
As of this writing, there are no plans for another Alien movie after Covenant. The movie didn't do too well at the box office and we already mentioned the mixed reviews it received. Only time will tell if the legendary director gets his dream project focusing on David.
