Alien Franchise Gets Three More Films if Covenant Succeeds At Box Office

Fans of 20th Century Fox's science-fiction horror Alien franchise just might get three more films if Ridley Scott's upcoming Alien: Covenant proves successful.

Scott, the director of the original 1979 Alien and helmsman of the Prometheus sequel revealed in an interview with Fandango today how he's open to the possibility of creating at least three more prequel movies for Alien. Well, if Covenant proves a success at the box office during its release.

"There will be another one before we kind of literally and logically, clockwise, back into the rear back head of [the original] Alienā€¦ It will go Prometheus, Awakening, Covenantā€¦ fairly integral where this colonization ship is on the wayā€¦"he revealed during the interview.

"If this (Covenant) is successful, and then the next one, and then there will definitely be three more," Scott confidently adds.

This is no surprise to Alien fans ā€“ the franchise is relatively strong and a sequel to Alien: Covenant is already being written. The only question left is whether Covenant will prove itself strong enough to churn out more movies. From the look of things, it seems like the film has a pretty strong chance.

Alien: Covenant is slated for release on May 19, 2017.
