Alien: Covenant Sequel May Have This Title

The expected follow-up to Prometheus hasn't even been shown to theaters yet. However, unlike other directors who are bent on keeping sequels and follow-up details close to the vest, Ridley Scott seems to be going the opposite direction.

In an interview with Fandango, the director has offered a few more details, including the next tile of the Alien: Covenant follow-up and even its placement in the entire saga that Scott has planned.

"There will be another one before we kind of literally and logically, clockwise, back into the rear back head of [the original] Alien… It will go Prometheus, Awakening, Covenant… fairly integral where this colonization ship is on the way…"

Interestingly, it was Scott himself who offered that there will be a title in between Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, when all along we thought that the upcoming movie is supposed to be a close follow-up to the movie starring Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace. Perhaps the movie in between will delve into the whereabouts of Rapace's missing Dr. Elizabeth Shaw.

This information does seem legitimate, since Alien: Covenant star Katherine Waterston had even cut the director, telling him that he was already "giving away too much" about the saga.

As a final word, Scott added that there will be three more movies lined up, should Alien: Covenant be successful. That last tidbit does seem to be a very confident line-up, but given what we've seen of Alien: Covenant's trailers, Scott seems bent on bringing back the franchise into its original movie's caliber, so a three-movie follow-up doesn't sound impossible.

Alien: Covenant will be out in theaters on May 18.
