Alex Ross Confirmed To Be The Inspiration Behind Latest Justice League Poster

If you love comics, Alex Ross is probably an artist whose work you've come across. SDCC gave us a new poster for the highly-anticipated Justice League, and the photographer behind it confirms that he drew inspiration for Alex Ross when he made the piece.

In a post on Vero (via ComicBook), photographer Clay Enos confirmed:

"I first saw this painting as part of the Ayman Hariri's Impossible Collection and it inspired me to shoot our gang in the same style. I used this exact image as my reference for what became the latest JL poster. I simply had the idea and took the initiative to pay homage to Alex Ross by making a few quick portraits in that distinctive light. I'm so glad the WB marketing team ran with them. I love it!"

If you're still clueless on who Alex Ross is, his signature style is the one that looks like this:

Ross has worked on a lot of comics in his career, but probably the most popular names are Kingdom Come for DC and Marvels for, well, Marvel.

I really like how the poster drew inspiration from the comics, and I'm curious if DC is willing to do the same thing for future promo material. There's just so much source material to draw from, and I'm curious on why Marvel hasn't done the same thing with their posters. This one just got me more amped for Justice League.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League hits theaters Nov. 17.
