Star Wars fans always find it easy to love the franchise's main droid characters. However, while fans have always enjoyed the beep-booping banter between R2-D2 and protocol droid C-3PO, hearts shifted to Alan Tudyk's K-2SO, the reprogrammed security droid who provided a lot of the laughs in the Star Wars spinoff, Rogue One.
Though K-2SO made the ultimate sacrifice to help Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso and Diego Luna's Cassian Andor get the Death Star plans off of Scarif and up to the Rebel Alliance, a lot of fans are still hoping to see the droid in an earlier timeline in the Star Wars franchise. Speaking with Comicbook, Tudyk decides to weigh in on the possibility of K-2SO making an appearance in Star Wars Rebels.
"The character's fun and he'd lend something to a lot of different stories," Tudyk revealed hesitantly.
Rogue One Animation Supervisor Hal Hickel also gave his two cents on the possibility of K-2SO making his way to DisneyXD's Star Wars animated series.
"That'd be great. And I don't think it would contradict anything to see him walk through that universe as well. I don't see why that would be a thing," Hickel explained.
"I'm not speaking on behalf of Lucasfilm officially or anything," he quickly added.
Now that Star Wars Rebels is drawing closer to the events of Rogue One and A New Hope, it's likely that the series could come across Cassian and K-2SO. The two have been fighting for the Rebel Alliance for a long, long while– Rebels could probably feature the two taking on a few missions along with the Ghost Crew. Or Ezra and the other could bump into the two at the new Rebel base. There's a lot of possible scenarios where the two could come in.
Let's wait and see.
Star Wars Rebels will return later this year.
