Activision Thinks Ahead, Hires Black Panther Writer for Call of Duty Movie Sequel

It looks like Activision is pretty confident when it comes to the success of their upcoming Call of Duty movie as the studio has already hired a writer for the film's sequel. Some would say that the studio is overconfident and they would be right since video game movies don't have a great reputation with viewers, despite the name value Call of Duty has. Still, it looks like they are making some smart moves by hiring Joe Robert Cole, one of the writers of Black Panther.

Reported by Variety, Cole has only been tapped to take on the project but it's not yet known if he is fully onboard. Still, you could do worse than contact the writer who penned the script for one of the best-reviewed Marvel movies out there. It's still foolish of Activision to work on a sequel when the first film hasn't even been released yet but what can you do?

To be fair to Activision, the studio did also hire Sicario 2 director Stefano Sollima, who did an exemplary job on that film. Many loved how dark and gritty it was, with some even saying that it's better than the first Sicario. Given how grounded those movies are, he's the perfect fit for a Call of Duty movie. If only we knew if he is also directing the sequel.

Fans can buy a number of Call of Duty games right now, the most recent one being Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, which is multiplayer only. The game is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
