The Hong Kong aciton star Donnie Yen may be joining the cast of Star Wars: Episode VIII. According to Twitch Film, actor is flying off to London in August to begin shooting for Episode VIII. Although Oscar Isaac is the only confirmed star to return for the sequel so far, teh report states that Yen will be sharing the screen with Han Solo actor Harrison Ford.
Since there have been word that the Star Wars: Rogue One director, Gareth Edwards was seeking Chinese actors for an unspecified role, there is some thought that Yen may also be cast in the Anthology film. The standalone movie just recently began shooting, so it could mean that Yen may appear in both movies.
Apparently, Yen beat out some contenders for the Star Wars role, including Daniel Wu, Jet Li, and Stephen Chow. A lot of Hollywood productions are looking to add Chinese actors to appeal to Chinese audiences, who have become a greater box office market for blockbuster movies.
Star Wars: Rogue One will hit theaters on December 16, 2016; Episode VIII will be released on May 26, 2017.
