
Lee Min Ho gets caught up in tax evasion issues after the Seoul Regional Tax Service investigation department conducted a special probe against the actor.
The Hallyu star joins a slew of celebrities who are being looked into by the department.
According to a local news portal, the Pachinko star and his agency MYM Entertainment are being subjected to an irregular tax investigation in September 2020.
With this, Lee Min Ho and his label were charged with a fine of hundreds of millions of won.
Lee Min Ho’s Agency Denies Tax Allegation Claims
However, the agency denied the issue, claiming that they are diligently settling their taxes.
As obtained by Soompi, MYM Entertainment explained that the company and its artist, Lee Min Ho “have been paying taxes dutifully.”
Moreover, the talent agency also pointed out that “there has never been a single unsavory incident” happened.
As for the label, the statement explained how the situation was brought to light.
“The current situation is an issue that arose due to a difference in interpretation of whether our artist’s previously dealt matter of “compensation for damages caused by the use of illegal portrait rights” was subject to taxation or not,” a representative mentioned.

In addition, Lee Min Ho’s camp says that the “additional tax” was “determined due to an accounting error in the process of handling corporate expenses.”
Meanwhile, the top star is booked and busy in the coming months especially since he has a back to back projects– from his comeback K-drama Ask the Stars and Pachinko 2.
Lee Byung Hun, Kim Tae Hee, More Embroiled in Tax Issues
Lee Min Ho joins a slew of top stars who are also being dragged into the controversy.
Recently, a media outlet cited an irregular (special) tax audit of Lee Byung Hun by the National Tax Service against the actor and his agency.
Moreover, his 10-story building in the neighborhood of Yangpyeong, Seoul was also discussed, claiming that they sold the building in 2021 and got around 10 billion KRW as a profit.
The same goes for Kim Tae Hee along with her former agency, Lua Entertainment, who were also fined hundreds of millions of KRW.
However, both stars denied the issues stating that the artists have “faithfully paid taxes in accordance with the law.
