3 Things We Learned From the 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Trailer

Director Rian Johnson finally presented a first look at the trailer of Star Wars: The Last Jedi at the Star Wars Celebration panel. And while it barely scratched the surface of the story to follow, there are a few things that stood out:

1. Rey is in training

With all of the theories surrounding Rey, her origin, and her future, one thing is clear: she will be doing some training. We see Luke and Rey by the cliff, the lightsaber visibly swinging from Rey's hand.

The majority of the trailer also seems to be showing Rey appearing to tap into the Force, where she's able to spot light, dark, and the Balance. Interestingly, Luke's words at the end does make us wonder if this is training to become just a Jedi (more on this later).

2. Returning characters

While we don't really know every character that will be coming back to Star Wars: The Last Jedi. But we did see glimpses of some of them. There's Poe with BB-8 running towards aa ship before it explodes.

We also see Kylo Ren, still looking menacing, but now without his headgear.

Finn (John Boyega) is also there, but he seems to still be under full recovery. But based on Boyega's words at the panel, he wouldn't stay under recovery for long and will be back to kick some ass.

3. Luke's ominous words

Perhaps the biggest thing that would start the speculation mill would be Luke's last words:

"I only know one truth. It's time for the Jedi to end"

This comes as a surprise, considering how we initially thought that he was training Rey to become a Jedi to perhaps counter the Dark Side of the Force. Maybe this could be related to how he hints that there is something so much bigger than the light, the dark, and the Balance, the three things that have been fueling the universe's flow from what we know before.

Johnson did say that more will come leading to the Christmas season release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
