Professor X has officially returned to Earth, but Magneto and Rogue are on their last wit on saving humanity using their mutant powers.

And so, once Magneto shuts down the electrical systems using his electromagnetic abilities, the X-Men must face the foes they once considered family.

X-Men '97 episode 9 titled Tolerance is Extinction Pt. 2 shows the X-Men deliberately getting defeated, otherwise killed, during their battle with the Sentinels and Bastion, which leaves Wolverine, Magneto, and Professor X.

While Wolverine tried to ensure that his comrades would be able to defeat Magneto at least, his Adamantium claws gave Magneto the spotlight to ruthlessly take the metal out of Logan's body.

In doing so, every single Adamantium metal residing within Wolverine spills out of him, heavily damaging his internal and physical system.

This leaves Magneto coming face-to-face with Charles Xavier, who's not about to let his children die on his watch for nothing.

This sparked hope in Marvel fans that we may be seeing Onslaught make his debut sooner than we thought!

Who is Onslaught in X-Men '97? Comics Origins Explained

Onslaught is essentially one of Charles Xavier's creations. In the comics, Professor X decided to create an entirely new entity that merges his consciousness with Magneto's.

As of episode 9, Onslaught hasn't appeared in the series yet, which leaves episode 10 as the deciding factor.

What resonates with this exact scene was in X-Men comics' Fatal Attractions, in which the same event occurred as portrayed in episode 9, except that we'll also potentially be seeing Professor X get possessed by Onslaught.

This possession would lead the X-Men to team up with the Avengers and the Fantastic Four to defeat him before Professor X is taken away forever by his consciousness.

Utilizing two Omega-level mutants, Onslaught would be practically unstoppable, which could call for an X-Men '97 season 2 continuation.

Keep in mind that we don't know what happens to Wolverine (unless you've read the comics yourself, that is). Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
