Following its announcement nearly two years ago, the Murai in Love anime finally has a new trailer highlighting its cast members ahead of the show’s Fall 2024 release date window.
This upcoming anime is a new romantic comedy, and it will be released on Disney+ later this year, meaning it is part of Disney’s push to strengthen the anime lineup of its flagship streaming service.
Murai in Love Is an Upcoming Rom-Com Anime from a Prolific Studio
Much like other romance anime, Murai in Love is based on an ongoing manga, and it’s serialized in the Line Manga magazine
The series follows Ayano Tanaka, a high school teacher who loves otome games. One of the students in the high school is named Murai, and he confesses his feelings to Tanaka.
Unsurprisingly, Tanaka rejects Murai even if she has no experience with real-life romance. In response, Murai transforms himself to look like Tanaka’s favorite character from her beloved otome game.
Animating this series is J.C. Staff, the prolific anime studio behind shows like One-Punch Man Season 2, Food Wars, DanMachi, and Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy.

Murai in Love Shares New Trailer Highlighting Main Cast
With the show’s premiere happening later this year, Murai in Love got a new trailer that revealed more voice cast members. Previously, only the three main stars were revealed.
Currently, here are the confirmed VAs in the show’s cast:
- Kengo Takanashi (Kazuki Ryusen in The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic) as Murai
- Yoko Hikasa (Maizuru in Delicious in Dungeon) as Ayano Tanaka
- Nobunaga Shimazaki (Seishiro Nagi in Blue Lock) as Hitotose
- Kohei Amasaki (Neito Monoma in My Hero Academia) as Kiriyama
- Haruki Ishiya (Shuichi Tsukamoto in Sound! Euphonium) as Hirai
- Masaya Matsukaze (Shinichiro Sano in Tokyo Revengers) as Yamakado
- Hochu Otsuka (Jiraiya in Naruto) as the Narrator
Along with these VAs, the trailer also previews the show’s ending theme song titled Suko by the Japanese rock band Yabai T-Shirts Ya-san.

Murai in Love: Fall 2024 Disney+ Release Date Window Confirmed
Murai in Love will be released on Disney+ in Fall 2024 in most of the world, though there’s no word yet on an official release date. Chances are though that its first episode will be released in early October.
It’s also not clear if the show will also be streamed on Disney+ in the US. After all, many Disney+ shows are instead streamed on Hulu in the US.
