What Does "Magneto Was Right" Phrase Mean in X-Men '97?

By the end of X-Men '97 episode 7, Magneto was revealed as still alive and kicking, just under Mister Sinister and Bastion's clutches to use for their own gain.

Episode 8 titled Tolerance is Extinction Part 1 brings back Val Cooper, who tells Magneto the truth: the UN has been working beside Bastion and the Sentinel Empire.

Considering that they initially thought the X-Men supposedly lied to the human race about Professor X's whereabouts and status, they were convinced that teaming up with the villains would be their only hope.

That is until Bastion unveiled his true plan to Val Cooper. Bastion plans on utilizing humans as pawns for his experiment, Prime Sentinels, to wipe out mutants.

Due to Val's conscience, she freed Magneto while admitting to Bastion what she should have realized a long time ago: "Magneto was right." So, what does this message mean?

Magneto stood his ground against working with humans. He believed that humans and mutants could never coexist on the same planet. Unfortunately, Val's realization of his words came too late.

X-Men '97 Ep 8 Marks Magneto's Last Straw Against Humanity

Magneto's worst fears have come true. The UN essentially stabbed the X-Men's backs, despite the heroic deeds they have done and served Earth with.

Despite Professor Xavier's triumphant return to Earth, the story is not "all's well that ends well." If anything, his sudden appearance was the very reason the UN sided with their enemies.

Needless to say, there's no turning back for humanity now that Magneto appears to have declared war against the human race the minute he is freed from Bastion's lair. It remains to be seen whether he still chooses X-Men as a part of his team or not.

It is also worth mentioning that this is not the first time the phrase, "Magneto was right" was used. In fact, in Marvel Comics' new Magneto series, his philosophy echoed only after his deathbed.
