Josh Brolin opened up about not reprising the role of Cable in the upcoming MCU film Deadpool and Wolverine.

While the majority of the supporting cast members from the first two films are slated to appear in the threequel, Brolin is one of the few who won't be returning despite being a fan-favorite from the second movie.

It is unknown yet why Brolin won't be able to reprise his role in the upcoming film even though he's already part of the MCU previously when he played Thanos in the Infinity Saga.

In a recent interview, Brolin discussed his absence in Deadpool and Wolverine and speculated on why he won't be appearing in the MCU film despite wanting to play Cable again.

"I so wanted to be in that movie. [Marvel] is a more complex labyrinth than Outer Range will ever be, my friend," he said.

"And I will never know where that went or what that is or what I’m involved with or what I’m not involved with —the MCU being involved now. Cable was a lot of fun. I really liked doing that role. That was a lot of fun."

Despite that, Brolin has no ill will towards anyone involved in the making of the film including Hugh Jackman, who will return as Wolverine.

"Hugh [Jackman], I’m absolutely in love with. know Ryan [Reynolds] now, and I’ve met Hugh a couple of times, and I think when he did Logan—forget it!" he said.

"I mean, Scott Frank, who wrote it, is a good friend of mine and I just think the coming together of [these characters] is just fantastic. And Hugh, I don’t know how old Hugh is now—is he 56, 57? I mean, seriously, the dude doesn’t age. So, yeah. I’m a big fan of his"

A lot of fans would have wanted to see Brolin return as Cable in the upcoming film, but unfortunately, that won't be the case unless they are keeping it as a last-minute surprise.

Considering that the MCU is exploring the multiverse at the moment, perhaps he could still return in a future project where the character can be utilized better.

Deadpool and Wolverine is set to arrive in theaters this July 26.
