What Is The Colors Within About?
The Colors Within revolves around Totsuko, a high school student who can perceive others' emotional colors.
She finds herself drawn to Kimi, a classmate who exudes the most beautiful color she has ever seen.
Despite Totsuko lacking musical talents, she joins forces with Kimi and Rui, a quiet music lover they encounter in a secluded bookstore.
Their journey unfolds as they rehearse in an ancient church on a distant island, where the magic of music forges bonds of friendship and kindles deeper emotions.
Amid this harmonious setting, the trio sets out on a journey to uncover the true essence of their colors.

The staff of The Colors Within has announced four additional cast members who will be joining the three main voice actors.
Here are all the confirmed cast members for The Colors Within:
- Sayu Suzukawa (Cool Doji Danshi) as Totsuko Higurashi: She can see the colors of other people, but she cannot see her own.
- Taisei Kido (House of Ninjas) as Rui Kagehira: He secretly wants to be a musician, but his mother wishes him to pursue medicine.
- Akari Takaishi (Baby Assassins) as Kimi Sakunaga: She dropped out of school but cannot admit it to her family.
- Aoi Yuki (Tsuyu Asui in My Hero Academia) as Shiho Nanakubo: Shiho is Totsuko’s roommate who is into weird things.
- Keiko Toda (Matilda Ajan in Mobile Suit Gundam) as Kimi’s grandmother: She has no idea that Kimi is not going to school.
- Minako Kotobuki (Asuka Tanaka in Sound! Euphonium) as Sumika Yatsushika: She is also Totsuko’s roommate who loves her friends.
- Yasuko as Saku Momochi: She is Totsuko’s roommate and is known to be strong-willed and kind.

When Is The Colors Within Releasing?
The Colors Within is scheduled to premiere on August 30, 2024, in Japan. Previously, the anime film was set to release in the fall of 2023 but was rescheduled to 2024.
The film is also confirmed to screen in competition at the Annecy International Film Festival, which is happening from June 9 to 15, 2024.
It will compete against three anime movies namely, Ghost Cat Anzu, Totto-Chan: The Little Girl at the Window, and The Imaginary.
The Colors Within International Release Details
GKIDS has secured the film rights for North America, Latin America, New Zealand, and Australia, while Anime Ltd. will distribute the film in parts of Europe.
PLAION PICTURES will oversee the movie's distribution in German and Italian-speaking territories.
Meanwhile, CHARADES will handle sales in the remaining regions in Europe, as well as Latin America, New Zealand, and Australia.
