In a recent interview, Molina opened up about his return as Doc Ock in Spider-Man: No Way Home and explained why he decided to reprise the role.

He revealed that he had initial returns about the return due to his age but agreed when he was told that the de-aging technology would be used to recreate his look in Spider-Man 2.

"Coming back 17 years later to play the character again, no one was more surprised than me. When they asked me, I said, 'You realize I'm quite a bit older? I've got crow's feet, I've got a wattle, you know, a double chin, I've got bad knees,'" the actor shared.

"And [director] Jon Watts and [producer] Amy Pascal said, 'No, no, it's your role. We want you back. We can fix all that, we'll de-age you. We've got the technology, we can change everything.'"

Molina also discussed how the role changed his life as a lot of fans have recognized him throughout the years for playing the villain.

"I was delighted, obviously. Apart from the fact that it's great fun to play, playing that part, in all honesty, completely changed my life. I mean, it did. It just took everything not just to a different level, but also to a whole other group of cinema fans," he added.

"There's a fan group that loved all the movies like Chocolat and Enchanted April and Frida and all those movies, and now suddenly the children of those people are kind of digging Fred Molina 'cause he's playing Doc Ock."

You can tell from Molina's comments that he is very fond of Doc Ock and he has a great fascination with the character even when he first played him 20 years ago.

Up to this day, fans consider his performance as one of the best comic book movie villain performances and there's no doubt at this point that the actor's legacy in the role will live on for years to come.
