The Magic: The Gathering semifinals Modern format match between Matthew Nass and Pierson Laughlin at the Grand Prix Phoenix 2018 turned out to be a suspenseful battle, and at the end, the ultimate result was determined by one card: Dark Confidant (a.k.a Bob, after Bob Maher, its creator. He won the right to design and be immortalized in his 2004 Magic Invitational submission.)

Nass was playing the difficult-to-play Ironworks Combo deck while Laughlin was playing Jund. In their final game, they managed to bring each other down to 2 life but the Jund side has a Dark Confidant in play so that means flipping a card with 2 or more mana cost means that Laughlin would lose the entire match but luck was on his side in this game because he flipped a copy of Inquisition of Kozilek, a one-mana black spell, so that means he only lost one life, bringing his life total to 1, and he's safe! He's able to proceed to his turn and attack Nass for the win.

Too bad. I was rooting for the Ironworks combo player but sometimes in Magic, luck really can determine the winner.
