Watch: Shot For Shot Comparisons Of Stranger Things And Movies That Influenced It

Stranger Things is one of the best things to come out on Netflix, and it’s no mystery that the whole story is kind of derivative (as per Max when Lucas tells her the truth). Either way, it’s still a wonderful mish-mash of elements, and IMDb has come up with his cool shot for shot comparison of Stranger Things 2 and the movies that influenced it.

Check it out:

The first season already had a lot of comparisons to E.T. but now there’s a lot more references to Spielberg’s work in the second season including Jurassic Park and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Besides the decade it’s set on, there’s a lot of inspiration coming from 80s movies, and the list goes on from Goonies to Gremlins to Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.

The Duffer Brothers had done it again with their second season of Stranger Things, and they managed to branch out the story of Season One. I’ll have to admit though, even if I do love all the new characters introduced, the first season just felt a lot more compact. I guess we have the infamous Episode 7 to thank for derailing the narrative momentum of the season. Thanks a lot, Eight.

Netflix has another hit on their hands, and we’ve been promised a few more years of Stranger Things. I can imagine we’re getting new seasons every Halloween, but so far, no release date for Stranger Things 3 has been announced.
