Watch Adam Savage Build C-3PO For His Chewbacca Costume

Last month, I reported on Adam Savage walking around in his Chewbacca costume at the Silicon Valley Comic-Con, and the most amazing part of his costume was probably the moving and talking C-3PO he was carrying on his shoulders. Tested has just released a new video of Savage going in-depth to building his C-3PO, and boy was it complicated.

Just getting the armor parts for 3PO was probably difficult enough, and I felt Savage’s pain when he had to cut up both of the legs to make the prop look movie accurate. I know a bunch of cosplayers who would kill for those parts, but in the end, what Savage came up with was pretty sweet.

Savage also goes above and beyond when he rigged the head and the arm to move, and he also had someone to do some lines for the prop to say when he goes on the actual floor. This costume is a cosplayer’s dream, and it’s such a treat to see Adam Savage living it.

Hopefully he dons it again on the premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi which comes out Dec. 15.
