The Minions Have Outshone Gru In Honest Trailer For Despicable Me 1 & 2

Despicable Me 3 is set to hit theaters by the end of the month, and as always, Screenjunkies has gone back to give us an Honest Trailer for the past Despicable movies.

Witness the tragedy of a man slowly losing his franchise to his underlings, as the Minions grow from cute interludes between scenes, to having their own B-story, to getting their own spinoff movie that’s bigger than the Despicable Mes ever were, to becoming to the mascot to your crazy aunt’s Facebook page.”

I kind of agree that Despicable Me has grown to be one of the most successful “passable” animated franchises out today. It would probably be okay if the Minions didn’t suddenly take over the world by a ridiculous storm. It’s like you can’t even spend a week without seeing a minion pop up somewhere.

What I kind of disagree on is the commentary on Megamind! That movie was freaking hilarious, and I would trade 1 Megamind sequel for the next 10 Despicable Me movies. What the hell happened to Megamind, Dreamworks?

Here’s the synopsis for Despicable Me 3:

The mischievous Minions hope that Gru will return to a life of crime after the new boss of the Anti-Villain League fires him. Instead, Gru decides to remain retired and travel to Freedonia to meet his long-lost twin brother for the first time. The reunited siblings soon find themselves in an uneasy alliance to take down the elusive Balthazar Bratt, a former 1980s child star who seeks revenge against the world.

Despicable Me 3 comes out on June 30.
