Though he may not get the same attention as James Earl Jones, David Prowse is still best known for providing the body for Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy. Prowse’s Twitter account loves to post BTS photos from time to time, and now we have a look at Prowse transforming into the Emperor’s Hand in a BTS video from the original trilogy.

Check it out:

At the time, Prowse was a bodybuilder who was hired because of his towering physique. Though he didn’t have as menacing a voice as Jones, he definitely provided us with the presence of an intimidating Dark Lord of the Sith not many could have done. Sure Chewbacca’s Peter Mayhew was taller than Vader, but he wouldn’t have been as scary-looking of a murder cyborg the way he was so skinny.

For now, Prowse is said to have cancelled his convention appearances after January 2018 because of health problems, but so far, we don’t know exactly what those could be. At 82-years-old, you can’t expect someone of that age to have enough energy to go out and hang around for hours signing autographs and answering old fan questions over and over again.

Hopefully Prowse gets well soon.
