Ralph McQuarrie’s Concept Art Brought To Life By Impressive Star Wars Fan Trailer

Lucasfilm might already be planning the next ten years of the Star Wars franchise, but that won’t ever stop the fanbase from having fun and imagining their own versions Star Wars films and trailers.

One impressive fan trailer brings the original Ralph McQuarrie Star Wars concept art to life. A lot of fans have always wondered what Star Wars might have looked like had George Lucas gone with most of McQuarrie’s original concept art and so visual arts students from Dave School have decided to make their own trailer reimagining A New Hope.

Though the trailer shares all the familiar elements of the Star Wars franchise with its lightsabers and space battles, there are a lot of noticeable differences in the design of the characters and the flow of the film’s story. It’s pretty interesting how the students of DAVE school were able to work up a pretty great Star Wars trailer reimagining Star Wars using McQuarrie’s concept art.

Lucasfilm’s new sequel trilogy also makes homages to McQuarrie's work by using olde designs like Rey’s (Daisy Ridley) and making nods to the idea of Stormtroopers using lightsabers with a baton “Traitor” scene in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits cinemas in the US this Friday, December 15, 2017.
