Disney and Pixar have released a new trailer for Cars 3, and it starts the same way as the previously released teaser that looked dark, but thankfully, things lighten up with a new generation of racers and big races. Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) is back but it looks like his career is threatened by a generation of new cars (led by the Armie Hammer-voiced Jackson Storm). Can Lightning win the race against them? He's clearly the old underdog here but it looks like he has a chance. Watch the trailer below:
The whole trailer doesn't look exciting, and of all the franchises Pixar created, Cars is my least favorite, but from what I can tell, this looks like a character-driven story, and we haven't seen what the true heart of the story yet.
Cars 3 opens in theaters on June 16.
