New Deadpool Featurette Explains How Ryan Reynolds Was “Born To Play” The Role

The success of Deadpool had been the result of many factors. One of these is lead actor Ryan Reynolds, who seemingly fit the role to a tee that it appears as if he had been born to be the Merc with a Mouth.

Most people would think this after the 39-year-old actor’s portrayal of Wade Wilson. This is also what Deadpool director Tim Miller thinks and he proudly stated this in a new featurette explaining what makes Reynolds perfect for the part.

Miller said:

Ryan was born to play this role. His personality and his DNA is really infused in this character. He’s got this ‘boy next door,’ ‘nice guy’ look about him, and he really is that guy. He’s literally the nicest guy I’ve ever met, but he’s also nasty.

The featurette first shown on Entertainment Weeklyis part of Deadpool’s “From Comics to Screen… to Screen” Blu-ray release.

Aside from Miller’s praises, the Canadian actor also received commendations from X-Men producer Simon Kinberg, who said that “this character of Deadpool was just made from heaven for Ryan Reynolds, or Ryan was made for it.”

He adds:

Either way, there is something about Deadpool that accesses the entire range of Ryan Reynolds.

We couldn’t agree more. Aside from Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese’s amazing screenplay, Deadpool wouldn’t have been as successful if another actor played the part. The movie’s critical and commercial acclaims speak for Deadpool already. We can’t wait to see Reynolds reprise his role as Wade Wilson when Deadpool 2 hits theaters. Meanwhile, you can catch Deadpool again on TV screens and digital devices as its DVD and Blu-ray versions hit shelves today, May 10.
