Lessons From The Screenplay: The Amazing Similarity Between Children Of Men And Logan

Lessons from the Screenplay is this great channel on Youtube which gives great analyses to some interesting movies, and the latest subject of the film is 2017’s Logan. Though it may not seem likely, Logan is very similar to Alfonso Cuaron’s Children of Men, and LftS on Youtube explores the movie in-depth to see their cinematic similarities.

One huge driving force for both films is the concept of the Lie The Character Believes. Both Logan and Theo (Clive Owen) have disassociated themselves with the very bleak world they live in until they are both sucked into a journey which has it end with them accepting the truth that they’re so afraid of.

It’s also interesting that each film begins by hinting at us the end of each movie. Both start with the characters on one side of a spectrum, and by the end they are on the completely opposite part of it. Amazing since those two movies wouldn’t have been something I compared at all.

If you’re an aspiring filmmaker, or just really into movies, I suggest you check this channel out. There’s a lot of great content, and you’ll find yourself liking some movies a lot more than you initially did.
