New Fake Magic: The Gathering Cards Revealed

Last year, Rudy of Alpha Investments warned us about the wave of counterfeit Chinese Magic: The Gathering cards, and now that the new year has arrived, it looks like another batch of new fake Magic cards is coming.

In the Alpha Investments video above, Rudy takes a close look at the new counterfeit Magic cards, and some of them look actually real. Modern staples released in the past few years are common targets for counterfeits, and as you can see above, the holo stamps look bigger than the original cards and they can be peeled off with the right tools but other than that, they look just like the real cards.

However, the fake foil masterpiece cards look obviously fake: the quality of their foiling is just not as good as the original masterpiece and anyone can tell the difference when you compare them with the real ones.

Finally, Rudy shows off the fake foil 7th Edition Birds of Paradise and the promo Snapcaster Mage in the video, and they look almost exactly like the original cards, except for the back with the crappy crosshatch surface that feels different.
