"The Chewbacca Mom" video has gone viral in just a few days, breaking over 140 million views and landing the woman (Candace Payne) on the couch ofThe Late Late Show. Host James Corden asked Payne why she recorded the video in the first place, and she explained that it was a way for her to both kill time and prove that the mask was hers before picking up her children.

“I’m a stay-at-home mom. I only had a few minutes before I had to go pick up my kids from school, and I wanted to prove to all my Facebook friends and family that that mask was mine,” Payne said. “I knew the moment they saw it, they were gonna take it from me. I’m like, I didn’t buy it for you, little kids. I love you, but this isn’t for you.”

Corden had some surprises for Payne. They recorded a sketch for the show in which a Wookiee-masked Payne drove Corden to work, featuring a special guest appearance by Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams. Corden also shared a video of Abrams showing up to blow Payne's mind and record the sketch.

Then Corden shared a message from the original Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew, in which he invited her to a private meet-and-greet and told her, “Your attitude and lovely message really resonates with spreading the good word of Star Wars with a heart. It’s so much of why we do what we do.”
