Watch: Every Fairy Tale & Arthurian Legend Reference in Magic: The Gathering's Throne of Eldraine

The Magic: The Gathering set Throne of Eldraine features cards inspired by the romantic Arthurian legend of Camelot and Grimms' Fairy Tales, and while many of them are obvious references to the classic characters and elements from those stories, you're probably wondering where some of them are based on. Thankfully, Spice 8 Rack has released a hilarious 42-minute video analyzing every literary reference in Throne of Eldraine, showing us how this MTG set is dripping with flavor.

Watch the video below:

Everyone already knows about the references based on Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Pinnochio, Hansel and Gretel, and The Little Red Riding Hood, but did you know that "Yorvo, Lord of Garenbrig" is based on the Green Knight of the Arthurian Legend? And that the card "Barrow Witches" is inspired by William Shakespeare's Macbeth? Apparently, there are also some references to popular medieval movies like Shrek and Monty Python. I love how the video goes in-depth when talking about how the abilities of the cards reflect their themes. For instance, he shows us how the card "True Love's Kiss" interacts with "Glass Casket", "Frogify", "Spinning Wheel", "Charmed Sleep", and "Trapped in the Tower" was intelligently designed. There's so much silliness in this video but if you love learning about the literary references found in Throne of Eldraine, this is the best one you can find on YouTube.
