Honest Trailers: Sony Needs more Franchises Like Jumanji 2

If 2017 had any surprises, it was certainly the success of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Screen Junkies has just come out with their Honest Trailer for the movie, and it pokes fun at all of Sony’s other failed attempts at making a franchise.

From the studio that just. can’t. seem. to. launch. a franchise. comes the reboot no one wanted that ended up being really fun and something that I wouldn’t mind seeing more of—is this what hope feels like? Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

With Sony failing at their shots at Spider-Man, The Emoji Movie, and Dark Tower, Jumanji has actually surprised everyone by being a faithful follow-up to the original; and executives are confident with their planned sequel that they expect to rival the box office with Star Wars Episode IX.

Aside from successfully rebooting the franchise, fans of the film also enjoyed the great dynamic between all the characters, and the fun way that each actor played against their usual role—save for Kevin Hart who has always played himself in every one of his movies.

Personally, I thought Jumanji 2 was just an okay movie. Sure it wasn’t terrible, but it didn’t quite capture the feel of the original which was chockfull of real frights, but was still a fun adventure for kids. I guess I was just hoping the movie was as good a reboot as 21 Jumpstreet.

Jumanji 3 is aiming for a release in December of 2019.
