Honest Trailers: Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Is A Movie That Laughs At Itself Too Much

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was one huge hit for Marvel, but like any other movie, it has its flaws, andScreen Junkies brings the harshness with their new Honest Trailer. Check it out:

“Blast off again with Marvel’s space Avengers, a team of misfits who learn how to work together in their first movie then turn back into A-holes so they can learn it all over again.”

Looking at it, I think Screen Junkies took it a bit too far with some of the things they said, but I do agree with some other critiques they had. For one, the movie kind of laughs at its own jokes too much, and you can see a comparison with the jokes from the first film. Like the epic voice guy says: “Hey, let me decide when to laugh.”

I also thought the movie could have been more serious at some points. I mean, the shot of everyone coming together in the third act was really amazing to me, but Mantis getting knocked over by some debris by the end felt like cheap attempt at a joke. Don’t be afraid to get serious sometimes, Marvel!

I still don’t agree with the trailer about the movie being forgettable though. It really does have its great moments, and you have to love Kurt Russell and Michael Rooker. I can’t imagine anyone who didn’t tear up in the end. The use of Cat Stevens Fatherand Son was just perfect.

Catch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 when it comes out on Blu-Ray and DVD on Aug. 22.
