Honest Trailer for Alien Covenant: There Are Now More Bad Alien Films Than Good Ones

A lot of people were pretty excited for the release of Alien: Covenant, but the movie just fell short with the continuing issue of having dumb human protagonists and having the promos spoiling key plot points of the movie. Screen Junkies has released their Honest Trailer for the film, and boy does it not hold back any punches.

“When Ridley Scott wanted to wank about the meaning of life for two hours, he gave us Prometheus. Now he’s back with a good old-fashioned Alien flick that returns to its sci-fi horror roots—until it takes a sharp left-turn into the same wank-job territory as the last one.”

To be honest, I actually enjoyed Prometheus a lot more than Covenant. Sure the movie had its plot holes, but it was pretty ambitious with its attempt at a higher form of sci-fi. Covenant was a lot closer to its Alien horror origins, and I preferred if it stayed on the philosophical route that Prometheus took.

As of now, we still have no idea when the next Alien movie will come out, but Scott did leave us with a cliffhanger ending. My only gripe was that why would David reveal himself in the end of the film before putting Daniels to sleep? I thought it would have been more suspenseful if David didn’t outright reveal himself; he should have just put everyone to sleep, and then he just asks Mother to play Entry of the Gods Into Valhalla. I think that would have been more subtle and scary.
