Fan-Made Teaser Turns Firefly Into an Animated Series

Artist and animator Stephen Byrne made a teaser trailer for an animated series based off Joss Whedon's Firefly. He calls it The Animated Adventures of Firefly. You can take a look at the video below:

Though the trailer is only 40 seconds long, it shows a lot. We see all of the beloved character from the series- Wash, Zoe, Mal, River, Simon, Book, Kaylee, Inara and Jayne are all there. A few scenes hint at real intrigue - we see Zoe gasping as she sees a holographic Wash. That seems to indicate this animated series is in continuity with the Serenity movie, where Wash died. Which makes the fact Book appears to make a entrance all the more exciting, as he was another casualty.

In addition to those scenes, there's an epic kiss between Mal and Inara and Kaylee appears to be attacked by a Reaver. Or mayber it's just a regular zombie. We also see expected stuff, like River kicking butt.

The trailer looks very nice and makes a good argument for a Firefly animated series being awesome. It's unlikely we'll ever see one, but Firefly undeniably has a cult status and dedicated fanbase. Maybe an animated series isn't too far-fetched.
