Contents of Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild's Impossible Treasure Chest Revealed

In Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, there's an impossible-to-open treasure found on a small island off the south coast of Hyrule, and the chest is half-submerged in sand and water which negates all attempts to open it. Is there a secret way to open the chest? Is it just a glitch, or did Nintendo just place it there as a meaningless joke?

Redditor Pimpinguino explained why it's "impossible" to open this stymied chest:

“It's stuck in the ground and wont budge. You can grab it with magnesis, but it doesn't move at all. You can freeze it and then shoot arrows at it to try and get it to rocket out of the ground, but that doesn't work either. You can drop bombs on it, but nothing happens and it's too far under water for you to just open it like I did in the video. People have also tried clearing out the enemy base nearby hoping it ‘releases’ it from the ground, but that doesn't work.”

However, Pimpinguino found a solution. Thanks to a glitch found in the emulated Wii U version of Breath of the Wild, he was able to walk through the water and open the chest instantly. What did he acquire?
