Watch: The Final Fight in The Rise of Skywalker, But in 16-Bit Animation

Mr. Sunday Movies on Youtube has been giving us 16-bit recreations of movie fights from Rogue One to Avengers: Endgame, and with the home release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker coming later this month, we have a 16-bit recreation of the final fight between Rey, Ben Solo, and Palpatine.

Check it out:

If this is the first time you’ve seen this type of video, you’ll know that animator John Stratman goes into meticulous detail when it comes to recreating the exact movie scene. You also have to love the 8-bit music version of the original scores from the scene.

What’s also interesting is that the animation has a bit of wish-fulfillment with the other Jedi being brought back onscreen to lift Rey up. What’s more, it also cuts after the kiss with Ben Solo, doing away with one of the most complained about elements of the movie.

I’ll admit, I’m not the biggest fan of The Rise of Skywalker, but these animations from fans are always one of the best parts of the fandom. Though a lot of people may hate on TROS, as long as kids loved the movie, I think it would have done its job well.

When it's discovered that the evil Emperor Palpatine did not die at the hands of Darth Vader, the rebels must race against the clock to find out his whereabouts. Finn and Poe lead the Resistance to put a stop to the First Order's plans to form a new Empire, while Rey anticipates her inevitable confrontation with Kylo Ren.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits digital on March 17 and Blu-Ray/DVD on March 31.
