Watch: Rewriting the Battle of Winterfell to Give the Night King a Fitting End

Ever since the Battle of Winterfell, Game of Thrones fans have been in a state of unrest online. There’s been a lot of complaints about plot armor and several other things, butHello Future Me from Youtube has pulled a Nando V Movies and has presented a rewrite of the episode to make the plight with the Night King more meaningful to the fans.

What’s important to note is that he set some rules in the video with them being that the rewrite has to end with all the same characters dead by the end, and that everything has to be in the same place come the fourth episode. I guess if there’s only one big change, it’s that Bran Stark also ends up dying in the episode as well.

Probably one of the most radical theories you’ve heard about Game of Thrones is that Bran Stark is the Night King, but the video actually gives it a lot of sense, plus it kind of gives the Night King a more tragic arc in the sense that he’s actually a mindless Bran. The video proposes that, while Bran wargs mid-battle, he actually went back in time to stop the creation of the Night King by trying to get the Children of the Forest to stop mid-ritual. Bran ends up failing and he’s still in the body when it’s stabbed with the dragon glass—turning him into the Night King.

There’s also this fantastic bit where they make Bran try and warg King Aerys before he goes mad (for the manufacture of Wildfire), but this just ends up turning him insane, and his “Burn them all!” line is actually supposed to refer to the White Walkers. This is also a neat callback to what happens to Hodor back in Season 6.

For now, the show has two episodes left and fans are still angered at how everything has turned out. Hopefully David Benioff and D.B. Weiss can turn this thing around.
