Watch: In-Depth Video on How Ian McKellen Acts with His Eyes in LOTR

Lord of the Rings remains to be a cinematic masterpiece when it comes to trilogies, and even until now people are still raving on about how well the movies were made. Interestingly enough, Youtuber Nerdwriter has come up with this video taking an in-depth look at how Ian McKellen brings character to Gandalf with just the use of his eyes.

While McKellen is already an accomplished actor in his own right, it’s fascinating to see some real scrutiny when it comes to his craft. While McKellen absolutely made the role of Gandalf his own, I can’t imagine anyone else playing the character at all.

Fun fact: Did you know Sean Connery was supposed to play Gandalf before they cast McKellen? Do you think he would have played the role just as well?

For now, it seems that McKellen has finally put the role of Gandalf behind him. Interestingly enough though, the upcoming Lord of the Rings series from Amazon is said to take place during the Second Age (LOTR takes place in the Third), and it’s likely that we could see Gandalf make an appearance there. With Gandalf having walked Middle-earth for more than 2000 years, you’d think they’d have time to get McKellen to guest star for even just one episode.

Will the show take off? We don’t know yet, but hopefully, it won’t end up as long-winded as the Hobbit trilogy.

No release date has been set for Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series.
