Watch: How Joker Should Have Ended

We may have to wait a few more months before we get the Honest Trailer for Joker, but How It Should Have Ended on Youtube has gone ahead and released their HISHE video for the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.

What’s interesting is that Arthur’s story could have turned out pretty well, had it not been for Thomas Wayne being such an asshole. Then again, I think the entire point of the film is that Arthur could have turned out better, should everyone just have been a little nicer.

There’s also the case of this version of the Joker not being a real supervillain like the character is known for in the comics. If anything, Arthur was really just a victim of circumstance, and by the end of the film, his Joker won’t be able to go toe-to-toe with Batman at all. Though I’d really love to see more of the character, I think it’s really best if they just keep this film as a one-off. Then again, I’m not opposed to the Joker spinning off into an actual Batman movie.

If you ask me, Todd Phillips just really wanted to make a character study, and he just used the Joker title to give the film some traction. I honestly think the movie wouldn’t have been as successful as it was if they just decided to make Arthur a random clown guy rather than the Clown Prince of Crime. But then again, it’s a good step for more mature and diverse comic book films. Not everything has to be a kid-friendly Marvel romp.

Catch Joker still in theaters.
