Watch: How Hasbro Makes Photo-Real Action Figures for Star Wars and Marvel

Toy companies have been having a hard time as of late, but Hasbro manages to soar with solid toy lines like Marvel Legends and Star Wars The Black Series. Lately, the company has found a game-changing way to print faces with something called ‘photo-real’ technology, and Insider has a video showing us just exactly how they do it.

When at first I thought they would actually scan the faces of the actors, it turns out they just have artists look at reference photos and perfect the paint digitally. They also didn’t get to show it since it was supposedly a secret technique, but they print on the faces on the figure, and they end up looking fantastic.

The toy market is incredibly competitive, and before we got this tech from Hasbro, they have been falling behind on quality thanks to some overseas companies. The Black Series and Marvel Legends had been getting its quality questioned with figures from Bandai Figuarts or Mafex. With the photo-real tech though, they manage to up the competitors; not only by giving us accurate faces but by also giving us completely affordable prices as well.

A lot of people are looking forward to what Hasbro has to bring to the table in the coming future. They have the best licenses around, and based on what we’ve seen, things can only get better.
